"The TT buying rate on the Rule 115 specified date (Rule 206 under the new Income-tax Act, 2025) — not the day you were paid, and never a Google rate — is the figure that goes into your return." — CA Juber Attar, TaxFetch e-CA Tax Expert
Revised card: SBI reissued its rate card later on 22 October 2026; the figures below reflect the latest card of the day.
Today's upward movement in the USD TT buying rate means that foreign income—such as freelance receipts, interest or dividends—converts to slightly more rupees when reported in your income-tax return. For taxpayers filing under the Income-tax Act, 1961, Rule 115 (and its successor Rule 207 under the Income-tax Act, 2025, applicable from FY 2026-27 onwards) requires conversion at the SBI TT buying rate on the specified date of receipt or accrual. A higher rate today therefore translates directly into higher taxable income in rupee terms for any foreign currency credited or received on 22 October 2026.

What is SBI’s TT buying rate for USD today?
SBI's telegraphic transfer buying rate for USD on 22 October 2026 is 94.40 rupees per unit. This is the rate you must use if you received or accrued dollar income on this date for income-tax reporting purposes.
Why does my ITR need the SBI TT buying rate and not a Google rate?
Rule 115 of the Income-tax Rules, 1962 (and Rule 206 under the Income-tax Act, 2025 regime from FY 2026-27) specifies that foreign income must be converted using SBI's telegraphic transfer buying rate on the date of receipt, not market rates from search engines or currency converters. Using any other rate—including interbank or Google rates—will not satisfy the statutory requirement and may lead to incorrect disclosure in your ITR.
Which date’s rate should I actually use?
Rule 115 fixes a specified date per income type — and the same specified dates carry forward as Rule 206 of the Income-tax Rules, 2026 under the Income-tax Act, 2025 (income of FY 2026-27 onward). In short: FY 2025-26 and earlier returns cite Rule 115; FY 2026-27 onward cite Rule 206 — the rate itself is SBI’s TT buying rate either way. Per income type — for foreign salary and RSU/ESOP perquisites it is the last day of the month before the month the income fell due; for capital gains, the last day of the month before the month of transfer; Schedule FA closing balances take the 31 December rate.
